With more than 320 million monthly active Twitter users sending updates in more than 35 languages, it should come as no surprise that the world relies heavily on Twitter to stay informed. In fact, a recent survey from the Pew Research Center found that nearly two-thirds of adults who use Twitter also get their news on the platform. The American Press Institute also found that Twitter users tend to consume more news than other social media users. Indeed, following journalists and publications via Twitter is now one of the quickest and most efficient ways to consume a day’s worth of content and breaking news in a short period of time.

With platforms like Hootsuite and Tweet Deck, you can also create your own list of individuals and organizations to follow that are targeted to your interest areas—whether it be philanthropy, social innovation, impact investing, Millennial engagement, inclusive entrepreneurship or all of the above.
