As a little girl living in the suburbs of Detroit in the 1960′s, I remember lying awake at night trying to wrap my head around the fact that many children around the world didn’t have what I had. I didn’t know what it meant to be truly hungry, to not be able to go to school, or to grow up without the loving care of my parents. I was moved by the words of our pastor about the importance of caring for others and felt moved to action.
