I watched the inauguration from my hometown, Alexandria, on a jumbotron the city had set up in Market Square -- right behind city hall. Perhaps a thousand people were there, and we all stood rapt, some of us holding back tears, some hugging.
At moments like these, I reach for my camera, to try and hold on to the hope in each of our eyes, to help us remember what we looked like then. Here's what yesterday's beginning looked like to me.
