Earlier this month, we attended the Opening Day for City Year, Washington, DC (CYDC), where 140 young leaders committed to a year of service to communities within our area.
We are the proud sponsors of a City Year team, who will be serving the Simon Elementary School through the Whole School, Whole Child program. Whole School, Whole Child teams serve a single school throughout the school year providing one-on-one and group tutoring and after-school programs. Our corp members will work to make Simon Elementary a positive environment, where children will be engaged in learning and participate in service to address the needs in their own school and communities.
We are very excited to be starting our eleventh year of working with CYDC. There has been an increased trend of using service as a solution, and City Year is leading the way with kids and schools! We are energized to continue to see CYDC programs grow and watch the impact they are making on DC children and communities. Check out some photos from Opening Day on our Facebook page.
