The DoGooder team is excited to announce that the DoGooder Nonprofit Video Awards is open for public voting! It's time for you to fire up your YouTube account, visit the contest website, and choose the 4 winners of this year's DoGooder Awards.

Nonprofits have made some amazing video this past year, and here's your chance to help the public recognize their efforts.

And what do the winning nonprofits get? This year, winners will have the chance to win one of four $2500 grants provided by the Case Foundation, customized video cameras from Flip Video, a free registration to next year’s Nonprofit Technology Conference (NTC) provided by NTEN and more. For small nonprofits that have limited funds in the video department, we have a new category for the best “thrifty” videos produced for under $500. And the winning videos will be announced at this year’s NTC and featured on YouTube’s homepage in March.

For nonprofits, video is a great way to share your mission, messages and goals. The medium educates by making others aware of issues, progress that’s being made and the work that still needs to be done. The DoGooder Awards recognize nonprofits that see the importance of video in hopes that others will take the leap and begin to use video in their programs.

We were blown away by this year's incredible submissions and the enthusiasm of the nonprofit community. By the end of the submission period, the contest received more than 1,350 submissions from over 800 nonprofit organizations and record breaking views on the website. We are truly humbled by the amazing work that all of the participating organizations submitted. Choosing the finalists was extremely difficult.

Now that our panel of expert judges has carefully narrowed down the field to 16 finalists - 4 videos for each category - the public has the opportunity to choose the ultimate winners of this year's awards. Here's how:

  • Log into your YouTube account.
  • Visit the contest website here.
  • Vote "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" on each video by the end of March 14th.
  • Tune in to YouTube on March 19th to see the 4 winners' videos on the YouTube homepage!

See3 and YouTube will be announcing these winners live at the 2011 NTC in Washington, D.C. on the 19th.

So make some popcorn, log in, go to the contest website, and pick your favorite nonprofit videos from the past year. We couldn't have this fabulous contest without the public's enthusiastic response. Thanks so much for taking the time to cast your votes.
