Stanford, CA – June 5, 2014 – The Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society (Stanford PACS), a global research center committed to exploring ideas to create social change, announced the appointment of Jean Case, CEO of the Case Foundation to its advisory board.

Jean Case is an actively engaged philanthropist and investor; and a pioneer in the world of interactive technologies. Jean spent more than two decades as an executive in the private sector, where she led marketing and branding efforts for AOL, before she and her husband, Steve Case, created the Case Foundation in 1997. The Case Foundation is recognized for its innovative efforts to increase giving and catalyze civic and business participation, as well as promote innovation, collaboration and leadership in the nonprofit sector.

Case is the first member of the Stanford PACS Advisory Board hailing from the East Coast, and her appointment coincides with a milestone occasion for the organization: the five-year anniversary of both the appointment of the organization’s Executive Director, Kim Meredith and the rollout of its advisory board.

“Jean and the Case Foundation have long been leaders in developing new approaches to solving big social challenges, and understanding the important role that technology and new models are playing in this space,” said Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen, founder and chairman of Stanford PACS. “As we celebrate an important milestone in our development, we’re thrilled to have Jean on board for the years ahead as we navigate the ever-evolving social sector.”

“I have long admired the work of Stanford PACS as one of the leading influencers in the social innovation sector,” said Case. “I look forward to working with Laura, Kim and the esteemed thought leaders on the Advisory Board and Faculty Co-Director team as the organization continues its important work in knowledge creation in critical areas of social change and civic engagement.”

The Stanford PACS advisory board focuses on helping to provide strategic guidance and support to the organization as it sets priorities and engages with its communities of educators, philanthropists and other social innovation leaders.
