What's next...

Will the Case Foundation launch another Make It Your Own Awards program?

When we launched the pilot Make It Your Own Awards grants program in June 2007, we weren't quite sure what to expect. Almost one year later, we have learned a great deal about our nation's communities and about ourselves.

We received nearly 5,000 applications, and more than 15,000 of you voted for the Final Four on our online ballot. Clearly, there is a real passion for this kind of "citizen-centered" approach to civic engagement.

The initiative was also educational for us as a foundation. Unlike any program in our history, this one employed new technologies and involved the public every step of the way. In the process, we learned what went well and what didn't.

Overall, we are thrilled with the outcome of this pilot program, and look forward to following the progress of all of our grantees. Now is the time for us to collect data and collect our thoughts.

We offer a heartfelt thanks to all of those who contributed -- from applicants to reviewers to voters -- and we encourage you to stay tuned for new and exciting initiatives to come!
