World Leaders Say 'No More' to Malaria
No more deaths from malaria by 2015. That's the goal of an ambitious new multibillion-dollar strategy unveiled on Sept. 25 during the 2008 Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Malaria Summit in New York City. Leaders from around the world, including such notables as UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and U2 singer and ONE Campaign founder Bono, convened at the summit to announce the launch of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership's new Global Malaria Action Plan, backed by a multi-sector commitment of $3 billion. |
