Make Big Bets and Make History

The easy road in any undertaking is to set comfortable, realistic goals. But if we’re truly going to Be Fearless — and find breakthrough opportunities to change the world, we must set audacious goals.

Jean Case serves as Chairman of the National Geographic Society and CEO of the Case Foundation and the Case Impact Network. A philanthropist, investor, and pioneer in the world of internet and impact investing, she is a leading advocate for fearless innovation.

Her private-sector career spanned nearly two decades, including senior executive positions at AOL, before she co-founded the Case Foundation in 1997 with her husband, Steve.

Jean is the author of Be Fearless: 5 Principles for a Life of Breakthroughs and Purpose (Simon & Schuster, January 2019), a national bestseller. She serves on numerous boards, including the White House Historical Association and the Smithsonian’s American Women’s History Museum, and has advised Harvard Business School, Stanford, and Georgetown.

She was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2016, has received honorary degrees from Indiana University and George Mason University, and — together with Steve — joined The Giving Pledge.
